The backstabbing government

For decades, immigrants have been present in the United States, and they have been going through injustices all along. For example, they bring stability to our economy, and in return we negate their entrance to our country. The government has been doing everything to push immigrants out of the country by giving them many obstacles, building fences in the borders, and negating public benefits to them, such as being unable to receive free healthcare or go to school.
Through the years they have been an essential contribution to the economy to the United States, and even though some of them might not in the country legally they still pay taxes and contribute to the American market. Their contribution to local business bring up the GDP(gross domestic product), since most of them consume locally they help rise the supply and demand of goods and services giving more business stability and bring up the value of the dollar.
Moreover, if we had a more comprehensive immigration policy, it would not only give immigrants a legal status, but it will also have significant impact on the economy in a positive way, not only helping the GDP but also creating more jobs, giving more opportunities to immigrants to get better jobs, earning more and being able to spend more on local goods and services.

This is the way our government has been paying immigrants for their contribution to our economy, by closing the doors to those who supposedly came to “steal our jobs”, bringing them to cross the borders illegally.

Worse than hangover

Alcohol consumption is present in most of the American’s lives from college parties to the most formal events. Some people might argue that excessive alcohol consumption       is a health risk. But according to an article from CBS NEWS, alcohol also harms our economy.
Alcohol consumption by itself is expensive, and also taking into consideration what the excessive consumption might cause. Some of the consequences include accidents caused by drunk drivers, diseases caused by alcohol, or as explained by  the article: alcohol makes workers lose productivity. After a night of heavy drinking, people get hungover, and at work it might get people to lose their ability to focus on their daily task. This will lead them to do less efficient work and with less quality making them less efficient. In addition, the worker’s inability to concentrate could possibly lead to equipment being damaged resulting in more money loss.  Losing worker’s productivity by itself has made us lose about $179 billion, which is higher than all other effects of alcohol combined. Bringing all the costs of excessive alcohol consumption together would add up to the surprising amount of $249 billion. On the other hand let's not forget about the lives it can cost when drinking. Involving from alcohol related accidents to addiction and physical problems; causing deaths that can sum up to the average of 88,000 per year, as mentioned by CBS NEWS.
Alcohol consumption can lead to fun times, but it can also lead to death, injury, compromising our workplace productivity, and even worse; it can affect our economy negatively.

Obama's last deed

Through Obama’s terms there have many changes. Some people might even argue that he did not do a good job during his presidency. On the other hand, other people would say he is their favorite president by ending the war overseas or providing us with his affordable healthcare, Obamacare; which was a success.
Moreover, he now insights a new deed, according to The Editorial Board of The New York Times, he now finds himself trying to give clemency to those serving unjustly long terms in prison. But, who he is trying to give clemency to? Does it mean that anyone in prison including drug dealers would be granted pardon? This might be one of the many reasons why people tend to dislike his presidency.
As we might know, prison was made for criminals to find some time to think about their mistakes and pay for them. This also keeps our communities safe from criminals. I understand that there might be prisoners who have been wrongly sentenced for long period of jail time, who would be greatly affected by clemencies or commutation, but let's not forget that also other criminals who really deserve their sentence and free food from jail, such as drug dealers who could also be benefited by this.
Although, Obama trying to accomplish a good deed before the end of his term would be a good idea, take into consideration the people who would be benefited by this, it could be someone convicted for the wrong reason or someone convicted for selling crack.
